Students to host premiere Friday for new online web series

Being Haverage episode 1

Update 11/24: Their first episode is now on Youtube.

Peliculeo Productions launched this year as an extracurricular organization for students interested in any and all aspects of film. Juniors Brandon Kelly and Catherine Casem ’15 formed the club as a way to facilitate collaboration between students interested in cinematography, screenwriting, acting, and editing.  The group has already been working to turn Haverford into Hollywood with the production of a project filmed on campus.

This project has taken the form of a web series, Being Haverage, that satirizes life at a small liberal arts college.  The trailer follows a Bryn Mawr freshman named Alex as she takes a familiar ride past Brueggers, the duck pond, Frisbee fields, Kim and Tritton dorms, and the College apartments. Posted online in early October, the video has already recorded over 1,000 views on Youtube.

The collaborative production, which includes a supporting cast of students from the Bi-Co, features original music by Andrew Burke ’14, including the theme song “Haverford, I Wanna Get With You.” Haverford senior Bo Abrams leads lectures as an unusually entertaining philosophy professor while Bryn Mawr junior Alex Mannix enters class as a new student who encounters an assortment of Haverford archetypes.

The first episode of Peliculeo’s satirical TV show, “Being Haverage” will be screened in James House at 6:30 PM on Friday, November 22. Its web release is scheduled for Saturday morning.

Being Haverage will also be featured as a Hurford Humanities Center “Crosslisted” event on Friday, December 13 from 12-1pm. This screening of “Being Haverage” will be followed by discussion and snacks in the Campus Center’s Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery lobby.
