Security Summary 9/25-10/1

Friday, September 25th            

11:21 p.m. Alcohol Related Illness, INSC

A report was received of a student who possibly had too much to drink. The individual was located near the INSC. After speaking with the Nurse on Call, the student was permitted to remain on campus and be watched over by a sober friend. The Graduate Assistant was notified.

 

Saturday, September 26th     

2:53 a.m. Alcohol Related Illness, Gummere Hall

A student contacted Campus Safety regarding a possible alcohol illness at Gummere Hall. Officers responded and spoke with the ill student. After speaking with the Nurse on Call, the student was permitted to remain on campus and be watched over by a sober friend. The Graduate Assistant was notified.

 

Sunday, September 27th

12:48 a.m. Noise Complaint, 19 Hannum Drive

A student called to complain about noise at 19 HCA. Officer responded and requested for the music volume to be lowered.

5:57 p.m. Alcohol Related Illness, Gummere Hall

A report was received of a student suffering from alcohol related illness at Gummere Hall. The Nurse on Call was notified and she cleared the student to remain on campus while being watched over by a sober friend. The Graduate Assistant was notified.

 

Thursday, October 1st

10:46 p.m. Suspicious Person, 30 Hannum Drive

A report was received of an individual looking at the bikes near the bike rack at 30 Hannum Drive. Officers checked the area; the person was gone.

 

*Note: Executive Director of Campus Safety Tom King updated students via two campus-wide emails late Sunday regarding an anonymous posting on the Internet of a threat of “an attack similar to the mass shooting incident that occurred on October 1, 2015 at Umpqua Community College” that would occur “on October 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM EST”  at an undisclosed College or University near Philadelphia.

King wrote in his first email that Campus Safety does not have “any credible information concerning a specific or viable threat of an active shooting or any specific threat at this time,” and added in his second email that the FBI informed the following to colleges in this area: “At this time we have no knowledge of any specific threat to any specific college/university in the Philadelphia area.”

Students are encouraged to notify Campus Safety with any concerns. Campus Safety will continue to monitor the situation.
