Photos: Inauguration

This past Saturday, Daniel H. Weiss was inaugurated as 14th President of Haverford College before a packed crowd in Marshall Auditorium, with many more tuning in via live stream.

Students, parents, alumni and distinguished guests were in attendance, including Weiss’s family, friends, former classmates and colleagues from Lafayette.

Several former presidents were in attendance, including Interim President Joanne Creighton and 13th President Stephen Emerson ’74, who resigned in 2011.

Letters of congratulations, sent by other universities and colleges, were on display in the Field House.

Co-chair of the Board of Managers Howard Lutnick ’83 likened the ceremony to a wedding between Weiss and Haverford College, a holy union after a period of anguished courtship.

“I’m thrilled. It is one of the greatest days of my life to be here, at a place so aligned with my values, surrounded by my friends and family,” said Weiss after the ceremony, during an open luncheon in the Field House. “So it doesn’t get any better, really. I’m profoundly grateful.”
