You might think them the lucky ducks who circumvented the room draw, but each of the groups behind next year’s newly minted community houses are preparing to add a new dimension to life at Haverford. Between Yarnall and the apartments, five groups from a crowded pool of applicants were awarded spaces by the Office of Residential Life.

With 75 percent of the student body needed to reach quorum at Sunday's Special Plenary, Honor Council is taking extra measures to get more students to attend.
According to Honor Council co-chair Tamar Hoffman '15, to encourage attendance, pizza and stronger internet access will be provided. All campus libraries will be closed as well.
“We hope to reach quorum as soon as possible and hope that students will realize the level of importance that their attendance holds,” said Hoffman.

Last Sunday’s Spring Plenary saw two resolutions aimed at promoting social justice. One of these focused on “transforming the social dynamics” of Haverford’s own student body. The other aimed to promote fair labor practices abroad, a cause whose intended beneficiaries generally live thousands of miles from campus. Conspicuously absent was a resolution that would have sparked discussion about a problem that will eventually confront both first-world Fords and the developing world.
